First day home....

Saturday, August 16, 2008 – 7:09 PM
Finally got home yesterday cocooned in Z-plus security. There is supposed to be a threat to my safety. As to why anyone would be interested in killing a shooter who has spent the last 12 years of his life shooting and successfully hitting a 0.5mm bulls eye from 10m away escapes me. Possibly I could just invite these fellows over for a shooting match... be it with a bb gun ;)
So I got over the fact that I have Z-plus and was actually thrilled to be home since its been more than 6 weeks. I was itching to play with my close buddies chotu and buddy. The fellas have really grown and did seem unusually excited to meet me at first. But soon enough they were back to doing doggy things with their usual disregard for my commands. Looks like the medallion around my neck does not have them too enthralled.
Since I now seem to be able to throw my weight (all 60 kilos of it) around, I tried it with the fur-balls assuming they would be far more obedient after my Olympics gold. Hey! I even tried waving that medal in front of their noses and they for one second thought it was some kind of treat but after sniffing at it were absolutely disinterested.
It was a bit of a relief to be honest -- somethings don't and should not change.

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

I do not know, who has written such a nice poem . I felt that it reflects your personality. Thank you for making us proud.

hey!
i need to confess that honestly i had never heard of you but i was fortunate enough to see your final countdown of win on my television.It was amazing.i was stunned.The next morning i managed to read all your possible articles in every newspaper and magazine.i saw all your possible interviews.I must say that you have left a spectacular impact on me.You've inspired me.Abhinav bindra-dignified,charasmatic,affluent,focused,intellectual,smart....(the list in endless for me).After having such a huge success and probably after creating history in the indian olympic win you were just so calm and subtle throughout.Not much ecstaticism on the face-just a gentle smile having everything expressed.You have managed to give india a new route and succeeding in a sport in which india not even specialises is a win in it's own way.I have much more to say but i unfortunately am lacking in words.GOD BLESS.It's my dream to meet you.take care.sd
