All roads lead to Beijing!!!!

It has been a long four years but the day has finally come when it was time i headed to my third olympics. I have spent the last month on the road training in europe so i wanted to make sure i got to Beijiing well in advance to get ready for my event.
i got to beijing two days ago and the city is buzzing with "olympic fever." after a long and grueling flight it was a relief getting to the athletes village which is top of the line and very comfortable.
It is an amazing feeling to be in a place that is buzzing with world class athletes and everyone soaking up the experience but yet all there with one big purpose---- the ever elusive "gold medal"
It is definitely motivating rubbing shoulders with your peers who are all well established in their fields and also with your countrymen a lot of whom you meet for the first time. There is definitely a comraderie in your designated housing blocks which is an experience that one only feels at the Games.
Tomorrow is going to be my first practice since i am still on european time and have only managed 5 hours of sleep in the last couple of days. This is probably a mixture of jet lag and the excitement of actually being at the greatest show on Earth. However i think the tiredness has finally caught up and adrenaline worn off a little and so i am now off to have a great night's sleep.
Have a big day tomorrow with practice and all pre match routines.

Unknown said...: I am in China and I was taking lunch during your ceremony. Fortunately I was wathching the games and I found that one Indian is being appreciated by everybody.....it was chinese commentator and my friend explained me that India one GOLD medal.
I really stopped eating and was watching you carefually....i never known you.......i never seen you before.......and really never expected after looking at tiny Indian team...to win Gold medal.

But today I am so happy....and salute you as a sportsman...I feel pround to see an Indian to win Gold medal.

I had a gr8 cheers party that night and many of my chinese friends were so surprise to see me celebrating JUST ONE GOLD MEDAL!! whereas they won 11.

But my eyes were telling them that it is our beginning and we know know...how to sit among angry lions and how to be humble when we are lions....

i got to know about your achievment only today morning from the newspaper and i was shivering out of happiness as i read the article. I remember having a conversation with my father before the start of the games about how bad we were in olympics and you have proved me wrong and i am really happy to see that. I am an avid cricket fan but now i know that your meday (only 1) carries more respect in my eyes and hopefully all the fans more value than all the achievements of our team put together. i culd go on but i wish you all the good luck with all the politicians wanting to share the limelight.

Promote sports in india and hopefully my son/daughter will follow your footsteps some day.
